LOUISVILLE, Ky.—The visiting North Florida Ospreys came into to Knights Hall on Saturday morning, and left with a 3-0 victory, defeating Bellarmine 25-20, 25-19, 25-20 in an ASUN Conference match at Knights Hall.
Bellarmine never could get its offense rolling as the Knights hit just .076 while committing 26 attack errors. Meanwhile on the other side of the net, the Ospreys swung at a .312 clip and defensively came up with 10 team blocks.
"Obviously this was not the weekend we wanted, but we have to find a way to get past it and have a great week of practice." said Bellarmine Coach
Rick Nold. "We've shown great fight and desire all year, so I'm confident we will let this motivate us to have a great trip to Florida."
The Knights did enjoy some success from the service line, totaling 10 aces.
Morgan Caba notched four aces while
Emily Ernst added three.
Offensively, Bellarmine's top hitters were
Jayme Scott and
Bailey Venard with eight and seven kills respectively. While Ernst and
Anna Lococo led the Bellarmine defense with 12 digs apiece.
North Florida (9-14, 7-5 ASUN) got 12 kills from Mahalia White to pace the Osprey offensive. Maddie Boyd and Savannah Cook also boasted strong stat lines for UNF. They each had six blocks while Cook added 30 assists and Boyd contributed nine kills and a .562 hitting percentage. Rocio Moro and Kailey McKnight each tallied 12 digs to lead the Ospreys.
Bellarmine (10-14, 4-8 ASUN) now hits the road for its next three matches. Next up is a trip to Florida to face Stetson on Friday and Florida Gulf Coast University on Saturday.
