FLORENCE, Ala. —
Ekaterina Tikhonko and
Madison Devillez claimed victories at no. 1 and no. 2 singles, but Bellarmine dropped an ASUN road match at North Alabama by a final score of 5-2.
Tikhonko fell behind a set after a 6-1 loss to Payton Andrews, but Tikhonko rallied to win sets two and three by a final score of 6-1 and 6-0. The win was Tikhonko's fourth consecutive in ASUN action.
Devillez won a pair of tight sets against North Alabama's Sydney Flesch to pick up her second singles win of the spring season. Devillez topped Flesch 7-5, 7-6 after falling 6-1, 6-1 to Flesch in last season's matchup.
UNA, however, claimed victories in no. 1 and no. 3 doubles to earn the doubles point. The Lions also received wins from Juliette Talieu, Kalais Going, Gabriela Cevallos, and Makayla Loubser.
"We had a slow start today," Knights Head Coach
Brian Slack said. "We finally woke up and started fighting for points. I'm proud of Kat (Ekaterina) and Madison for fighting and getting wins today!"
Bellarmine hosts Liberty this upcoming Friday at 11:00 a.m., starting a string of three consecutive home matches to end the regular season.
