Baseball drops final midweek game to Western Kentucky

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Western Kentucky captured a 10-2 victory Tuesday over the Bellarmine University baseball team in the Knights' final midweek game of the season.

Western Kentucky (18-33) scored two runs apiece in the first two innings and added three in the fifth in running away with the contest against Bellarmine (11-40) at Knights Field.

WKU's Luke Sinnard tossed 6.0 innings and Logan Bowen pitched the final 3.0. The pair combined to allow two earned runs on eight hits with eight strikeouts.

Bellarmine's staff struggled mightily with control, issuing 11 walks and hitting six batters. Western Kentucky collected only one more hit than the Knights, but the Hilltoppers did go deep three times.

Senior center fielder Jack Ockerman went 3-for-4 with an RBI single and two stolen bases for Bellarmine. Senior shortstop Clayton Mehlbauer registered two hits, including an RBI double, and sophomore first baseman Davis Crane added two hits.

Bellarmine will conclude the regular season by hosting Jacksonville State in a three-game ASUN series beginning at 2 p.m. (ET) Thursday.
