LOUISVILLE, Ky.—Bellarmine University Director of Athletics
Scott Wiegandt announced today that Bruce Brown is the new head men's golf coach.
Brown is a long-time PGA professional with impressive accolades as both a collegiate coach and teaching professional. He also will be familiar with the history of the Knights program, as he played college golf at Bellarmine in the late 1970s and early '80s.
"I'm very happy that Bruce will be returning to campus as the new head coach of our men's program," Wiegandt said. "He is certainly well-acquainted with our program and his teaching and coaching credentials are impeccable."
Brown began his career in golf as an assistant professional at Frankfort Country Club in 1982 and has been a Kentucky Section PGA Pro ever since. After two years at Frankfort, he served two years at Dix Country Club before helping develop and serve as head professional at Old Bridge Country Club from 1989 to 2010. While at Old Bridge, he served as Centre College's director of golf and swing coach from 2000 to 2016. During his tenure with the Colonels, Brown coached both men and women and was named the National Golf Coaches Association's Coach of the Year in 2011-12. Following the 2016 season, Brown returned to Frankfort Country Club as head professional, a position he will maintain in addition to his coaching duties.
Brown's teaching resume reflects several impressive honors as well. He was named the PGA Kentucky Section's Teacher of the Year in 2004 and was twice recognized by Golf Magazine as one of America's top 100 teachers.

The Knights will kick off their 2022-23 campaign on Sept. 12 and 13 at Marshall University's Joe Feaganes Invitational.
