MURRAY, Ky. — The Bellarmine University women's basketball team was defeated 108-78 by Murray State on Tuesday night at the CFSB Center.
Six players scored in double figures for Murray State (2-2), led by the 23 of Katelyn Young. The Racers also shot a staggering 39 free throws and hit 33 of them while the Knights were 12-for-20 from the charity stripe.
Bellarmine (0-4) had four players reach double figures. Junior guard
Hayley Harrison paced the Knights with 16 points, sophomore guard
Miyah Brown notched 14, sophomore forward
Paetynn Gray tallied 11 and senior forward
Cam Browning chipped in 10.
Murray State closed the first quarter on a 10-2 run to take a 35-22 lead. The Knights got within eight multiple times in the second quarter, but the Racers headed into the break with a 56-45 advantage.
A 3-pointer by Gray cut Bellarmine's deficit to nine with 4:14 left in the third period, but Murray State pulled away for good after outscoring the Knights 19-7 the rest of the quarter.
Bellarmine will play at 7 p.m. (ET) Nov. 29 at Evansville.
