LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Bellarmine University women's basketball team will complete the back half of a season-high four-game homestand in Freedom Hall when the Knights welcome Campbellsville-Harrodsburg for a 6:30 p.m. (ET) contest Thursday before hosting Detroit Mercy at 6:30 p.m. Monday.
Campbellsville-Harrodsburg marks the second straight opponent from the National Christian College Athletic Association for Bellarmine (3-5). The Knights are coming off a 90-65 win over Asbury in which they built a 10-point lead at halftime and ran away with the contest in the third quarter. The Pioneers are BU's fourth nonconference opponent from the state after Louisville, Murray State and Asbury.
Detroit Mercy (7-4) fell 75-66 Sunday at Northern Illinois but that snapped a three-game winning streak for the Titans, including Horizon League victories over Youngstown State, 59-50, and Oakland, 66-55.
Nine players for Detroit Mercy are averaging at least 15.3 minutes per game. Irene Murua is pacing the Titans in scoring (12.4) and rebounding (7.9) while shooting nearly 60 percent from the floor. She's had three double-doubles and a 21-point performance against Dayton.
Sophomore guard
Miyah Brown almost recorded a triple-double against Asbury (16 points, 10 rebounds, eight assists) before exiting for good with about nine minutes left in the fourth quarter with Bellarmine in command. Junior guard
Hayley Harrison poured in a game-high 20 points, her second 20-point outing of the season after netting a career-high 23 against San Jose State in the season opener.
Senior forward
Lucy Robertson matched a career high with 14 points against Asbury. Bellarmine's 19 steals included a career-high five by sophomore guard
Jayla Butler, a career-best four from Brown and a career-high-tying four from junior guard
Hope Sivori.
