LOUISVILLE, Ky. — At long last, the Bellarmine University women's basketball team is set for action in Freedom Hall.

The Knights (2-4) will make their much-anticipated home debut by hosting Purdue Fort Wayne (6-2) at 6:30 p.m. (ET) Wednesday before welcoming Asbury (5-4 before Tuesday's game against Berea) at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Bellarmine opened the season with six straight road games. The Knights are coming off 64-58 and 61-59 victories at Evansville and Wofford, respectively, marking their first two-game road winning streak in the Division-I era.

From the mid-1980s to the early 2000s, Bellarmine and Purdue Fort Wayne were rivals in D2's Great Lakes Valley Conference. They met for the first time in the D1 era last season, with the Mastodons claiming a 73-62 home win.

Purdue Fort Wayne is on a four-game winning streak. The last two have come against Horizon League rivals, as the Mastodons topped Oakland 84-66 on the road and Wright State 71-60 at home.

Amelia Bromenschenkel is leading Purdue Fort Wayne in scoring (14.1) and rebounding (6.8). The senior guard had a 27-point game against Delaware, helping her to a Horizon League Player of the Week nod. Renna Schwieterman on Monday was named Horizon League Freshman of the Week highlighted by a 14-point effort against Wright State.

Division III Asbury has won three of its last four games heading into Tuesday's contest at Berea. Haleigh Releford's 10.8 scoring average leads the team.

On Monday, Bellarmine's Paetynn Gray was named ASUN Newcomer of the Week. The sophomore forward and transfer from Monroe College averaged 12.0 points and 8.5 rebounds in the wins over Evansville and Wofford. In the latter, Gray posted her first double-double as a Knight with 11 points and 11 rebounds. She sank clutch 3-pointers inside a minute in both contests, making it a two-possession game against Evansville and providing the go-ahead — and ultimately game-winning — points versus Wofford.

Junior guard Hayley Harrison (team-high 13.2 ppg) scored 13 of her team-high 15 points in the second half against Wofford, including 10 in the third quarter alone. Sophomore guard Miyah Brown has scored in double figures in three straight games and averaged 13.0 points in that time while she's collected four rebounds or more in all but one contest while junior guard Hope Sivori is averaging 4.2 assists per game.
