BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Indiana scored eight runs in the third inning en route to a 13-3 win over the Bellarmine University baseball team Saturday at Bart Kaufman Field.
Indiana (9-6) has won the first three of the four-game series against Bellarmine (5-10). The Hoosiers had to rally from behind to secure the initial two victories, but they led the whole way in the third game, breaking it open with an eight-run third that featured six hits, including a two-run homer by Kyle Glasser.
Glasser was 5-for-6 with five RBI for Indiana, which accumulated 19 hits. In addition to the big third inning, the Hoosiers scored twice in the first and added one run each in the second, sixth and seventh.
Junior right fielder
Reed Blaszczyk crushed a two-run homer in the third to cut the deficit to 3-2 before things got away from Bellarmine. The round-tripper was Blaszczyk's third of the season.
Bellarmine added a run in the fourth when senior center fielder
Will Aubel followed a base hit by sophomore designated hitter
Casey Sorg and a double by senior third baseman
Colin Bertsch with an RBI single. Sorg paced the Knights with two hits.
Bellarmine had some strong work out of the bullpen. Senior right-hander
Devin Ecklar, freshman right-hander
Paul Osting, senior left-hander
Steven Thom and freshman right-hander
Brady Morse all tossed 1.0 scoreless inning of relief.
First pitch for the series finale is scheduled for 1 p.m. (ET) Sunday.
