LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Success can often have a snowball effect, and the Bellarmine men's tennis team has felt that in full over the course of March.
Bellarmine took its 3-0 ASUN record on the road to Lipscomb and pushed that mark to 4-0 with a 4-3 win over the Bisons on Sunday afternoon.
It did not come easy, as Lipscomb took an early advantage in doubles. The Bisons picked up wins at the no. 1 and no. 2 spots, while
Paul Reynolds and
Eli Wood earned a 6-3 victory at no. 3 doubles.
The depth of Bellarmine, however, again came up clutch in singles. Maksim Bogdanovich and Henrique Ushizima claimed wins for Lipscomb at no. 1 and no. 2 singles respectively. Bellarmine swept the no. 3-6 singles matches though to claim the team win.
Jack Batchelor defeated Jake Penny 7-5, 6-2 in the no. 3 position, while Reynolds battled to a 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 win over Vikash Singh at the no. 4 spot.
Vineet Ramesh handled Carlos Salas Tulla 6-3, 7-5 at no. 5 singles, and
Eli Wood topped Luka Stojanovic 6-1, 2-6, 6-4 at no. 6 singles.
Bellarmine remains tied for first in the ASUN standings by win percentage at 4-0 in league play. Liberty is 5-0 in the ASUN this season.
The Knights will next face Eastern Kentucky for the second time in six days with a Wednesday match in Richmond this week.
