Women's tennis drops ASUN match at Lipscomb

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Bellarmine women's tennis team played its third match in four days on Sunday with a conference showdown at Lipscomb.  The Bisons emerged victorious with a 6-1 win in Nashville.

Despite the loss, Knights Head Coach Brian Slack was proud of the effort from his team.

"The energy was good today throughout the match by most," Slack said.  "We competed at the majority of the spots today, and I'm proud of the girls for that. Lipscomb played the big points well. Cydney really fought and won a hard won match today!"

Lipscomb pushed out to an early advantage by capturing all three doubles matches.  The Bisons also claimed wins at five of the six singles slots to wrap up the team win.

Cydney Rogers had the lone singles victory for Bellarmine with a 6-3, 3-6, 10-7 triumph over Anja Trbeznik.  The win was Rogers' first conference victory of her career.

Bellarmine is back in action Wednesday with a home match against Florida Gulf Coast at 10:00 a.m.
