LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Bellarmine women's tennis team had a busy Friday.  The morning round was a positive result for the Knights, as BU defeated Queens 5-2 for its first ever ASUN victory and fourth win of the season.  After a two-hour trip to Nashville, Bellarmine fell 4-0 to no. 37 Vanderbilt.
 
The Knights fell behind early against Queens after the Royals claimed two of the three doubles matches.  Ekaterina Tikhonko and Vendula Kryslova teamed up for Bellarmine's lone doubles win at the no. 1 spot by a final score of 6-3.
 
Singles is where Bellarmine found its success.  Tikhonko defeated Katsiaryn Tuliakova 6-2, 6-3 at the no. 1 spot, while Kryslova earned a 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 three-set win over Jill Morse at no. 2 singles.  Rogers rallied for a 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 win over Hanna Axelsson at no. 3 singles, and Shu Grosso secured the team win with a 6-4, 6-0 victory over Kelsey Sinclaire at no. 5 singles.
 
The second match of the day came against the Commodores – Bellarmine's fifth power-five opponent of the season.  Only playing singles, Vanderbilt secured wins at the no. 1, no. 3, no. 4, and no. 5 spots.  Kryslova's match at no. 2 against Bridget Stammel went unfinished, but Kryslova led the second set 5-2 after falling in set one 6-2. 
 
Bellarmine rounds out the week with a 10:00 a.m. match against Central Arkansas at home on Sunday.  The Knights will honor their lone senior, Channing Varnum, approximately 9:20 a.m. prior to the match.
