LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Bellarmine men's tennis continued its homestand with a pair of wins over Oakland City and Centre on Sunday.
The Knights topped Oakland City 6-1 in the first match and bested Centre 7-0 in the second match of the day at the Eddie Weber Tennis Complex.
Bellarmine is now 8-1 at home this year – the team's eight home victories marks the most by the program in the Division I era.
Despite losing the doubles point to the Mighty Oaks, Bellarmine swept all six singles matches.
Kyle Tang battled past Francisco P Esnoala 7-6, 7-6 at no. 1 singles, while
Matthew Nice took down Jose A. Perez 6-3, 7-5 at no. 2 singles.
Jack Batchelor cruised past Nelson Ramos 6-0, 6-1 at no. 3 singles, while
Paul Reynolds handled Tomas Ojeda 6-1, 6-2 at no. 4 singles.
Xavier Ecarma topped Angel Gomez 6-2, 6-2 at no. 5 singles, and
Brent Reynolds defeated Matias Rocha 6-4, 6-2 at no. 6 singles.
In the afternoon match against Centre, Bellarmine took the doubles point with wins from
Paul Reynolds/
Eli Wood at the no. 2 spot and
Brent Reynolds/
Vineet Ramesh at the no. 3 position.
In singles action, Nice beat Ty Bush 6-2, 6-2 at the no. 1 spot, while P. Reynolds topped Bo Bush 6-2, 6-1 in no. 2 singles. Ramesh took down Ben Rueff 6-1, 6-1 at no. 3 singles, while
Eli Wood bested Ashton Whitt 6-2, 6-4 at no. 4 singles. Ecarma defeated Jett Anderson 7-6, 6-1 at no. 5 singles, and
Brent Reynolds clipped Chase Turley 6-0, 6-1 at no. 6 singles.
The Knights open ASUN action next weekend against North Alabama at 12:00 p.m. inside the Eddie Weber Tennis Complex.
