LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Bellarmine University track and field put the proverbial exclamation point on the outdoor regular season after delivering more record-setting performances Friday and Saturday at the University of Louisville's Clark Wood Open.

Jackson Gordon set new overall and freshman program records in the 400 and nearly duplicated the feat in the 800 before settling for the freshman mark. Placing first in both events, Gordon finished in 46.90 in the 400 to break his own previous records of 47.57. His 1:50.71 in the 800 topped his previous freshman record of 1:52.00 and threatened Michael Cowherd's overall record of 1:49.74 from 1982.

Chase Atkins set a new freshman program record in the 1500 after placing fourth in 3:50.68, which bested Nolan Hester's 3:51.45 from last season. Hester immediately followed Atkins in fifth.

Zander Hooten rewrote the freshman program record in the 400 hurdles after finishing seventh in 55.42, which topped Paul Garner's longstanding 55.84 from 1981. Hooten added another top 10 after placing 10th in the 110 hurdles.

Sierra Oesterling revised the freshman program record in the women's 3000 after placing second in 10:10.98. She took down Bellarmine Athletics Hall of Famer Emily Frith's 10:20.02 from 2012.

Junior Nick Lewis captured the gold in the 5000 after placing first in 14:29.01. Bellarmine had half the competitors in the 3000 field, with sophomore Hunter Griffin leading the group in third, while freshman Alex Cole took eighth in both the discus and hammer throw.

Senior Katrina Kamarute, freshman Jansen Story, sophomore Naimah Slaughter and sophomore Chloe Freilinger placed second in the 4x400 relay.

Freilinger finished third and Kamarute eighth in the 400, while senior Emma Wells was third in the 5000 and sophomore Trisha Sexton was seventh. Senior Anna Wells placed sixth in the 3000, while Senior Jenna Walker took seventh in the 100 hurdles.

Bellarmine will compete May 11-13 in the ASUN Outdoor Championship at North Florida's Hodges Stadium in Jacksonville, Florida.
