LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Bellarmine University women's soccer team hosts a pair of games in this week's ASUN action, as the Knights will welcome Jacksonville at 7 p.m. (ET) Thursday and North Florida at 1 p.m. Sunday to Owsley B. Frazier Stadium.
The two-game homestand for Bellarmine (3-4-4, 0-2-2 ASUN) against the Dolphins (2-7-2, 0-4) and Ospreys (4-5-2, 2-2) is undoubtedly an appreciated change of pace for the well-traveled Knights, who were on the road in five of their previous six matches.
Bellarmine and Jacksonville met only once in the Knights' first three seasons in Division I and the ASUN. That contest was also in Frazier Stadium and came in 2021, with the Knights capturing a 2-0 win.
Jacksonville is coming off 3-2 and 5-0 home losses in league action to Austin Peay and ASUN preseason favorite Lipscomb, respectively. Ines Martin ranks fourth in the ASUN in points behind four goals and three assists. Lillian Young has also registered four goals.
Bellarmine is meeting North Florida for the third time. The Ospreys secured a 2-0 win in Frazier Stadium in 2021. Last season, they played to a scoreless draw in Jacksonville, Florida.
North Florida, which plays Thursday at Eastern Kentucky ahead of its contest with Bellarmine, is coming off a 3-0 home win over Austin Peay and also has a 2-1 road victory over Stetson to its name in ASUN play. The Ospreys were predicted to finish third behind Lipscomb and FGCU in the ASUN preseason coaches' poll.
Jersi Dadah leads North Florida with three goals while Lauren Weiss is tied for first in the ASUN with four assists.
Bellarmine's defense has posted shutouts in its last two games. The Knights picked up clean sheets on the road against Kennesaw State and Queens. BU has four total shutouts.
From an offensive standpoint, Bellarmine will seek to get its goal production back on track in the ASUN homestand. While their 10 goals this season have exceeded last year's total of seven, the Knights have been unable to locate the net in four of their last five matches.
