LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Bellarmine University baseball team will open Atlantic Sun Conference play with a three-game series Friday-Sunday at FGCU.

First pitches between Bellarmine (1-15) and FGCU (6-10) at Swanson Stadium are slated for 6:30 p.m. (ET), 2 p.m. and 1 p.m.

FGCU was predicted to finish second behind reigning ASUN Tournament champion Lipscomb in the preseason coaches' poll. The Eagles are fresh off an 8-7 win in 10 innings Wednesday at FIU and boast a victory over Miami on their ledger.

FGCU's Harrison Povey and Jacob Lojewski were Preseason All-ASUN selections. Povey (.303 avg., 19 HR, 21 2B in 2023) was recognized as an NCBWA Freshman All-American last season and was second-team All-ASUN while Lojewski (.290 avg., 18 HR, 59 RBI in 2023) was named to the third team. Lojewski is hitting .318 with two homers, seven doubles and 13 RBI this year, while Povey is batting .250 with three homers and nine RBI.

Ian Farrow is hitting a team-high .373 with team bests of seven homers and 18 RBI. The Eagles are looking to find their groove on the mound with a 7.33 team ERA.

Bellarmine is hoping the start of ASUN play is a new life. Junior utility Casey Sorg has certainly come alive at the plate, hitting safely in the last seven games, including four multi-hit outings, to boost his average to .314. Junior outfielder Jake Agarwal, who began his tenure with the Knights with a 12-game hitting streak, is the team leader at .321.

Senior right-hander Ryan Johnson had a notable performance in Monday's series finale against Southern Indiana, striking out five in 3.1 scoreless innings, both career highs for the veteran reliever.
