FORT MYERS, Fla. — The Bellarmine University baseball team outhit FGCU on Saturday at Swanson Stadium, but the Eagles got more bang for their buck out of their base knocks in a series-clinching 7-2 win over the Knights in Atlantic Sun Conference action.
FGCU (8-10, 2-0 ASUN) had a modest six hits but four of them were home runs against Bellarmine (1-17, 0-2). The long balls plated the team's first six runs, including three round-trippers in the fourth inning alone that accounted for five runs.
Bellarmine broke up FGCU's shutout bid in the ninth inning with its own home run. Two batters after a double by sophomore shortstop

Matt Flaherty launched a tape-measure two-run homer, his third of the year.
Bellarmine collected eight hits. Three of them were registered by senior center fielder
Will Aubel, including a double. Sophomore right fielder
Joey Milto notched two hits.
Senior right-hander
Ryan Johnson fired 2.0 scoreless innings of relief. Senior right-handers
Blake Donnan and
Nolan Pender were also solid, allowing one run each in 2.0 innings of work apiece.
FGCU starter Justin Henschel tossed 5.0 shutout innings. Ian Farrow smacked two of the Eagles' homers.
The teams will conclude the series at 1 p.m. (ET) Sunday.
