Baseball falls in midweek game at Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A pair of big innings lifted Louisville to an 11-1 win over the Bellarmine University baseball team Tuesday at Jim Patterson Stadium.

Bellarmine (1-19) trailed only 2-1 after the top of the fourth, but Louisville (14-7) scored four runs in the bottom half and added five more in the sixth.

Bellarmine scored its run in the fourth inning. Senior third baseman Reed Blaszczyk ripped a triple and scored on a hard-hit ground ball by junior first baseman Casey Sorg that was misplayed at third base.

In addition to Blaszczyk, sophomore right fielder Joey Milto, junior second baseman Andres Castro and junior catcher Matt Flaherty collected a hit for the Knights.

Senior right-hander Nolan Pender, junior right-hander Mike Sokol and freshman right-hander Chase Carver didn't allow an earned run in 1.0 inning apiece. Sophomore right-hander Tyler Talbert struck out the lone batter he faced.

Bellarmine will host Jacksonville in an ASUN series Friday-Sunday. First pitch is at 2:30 p.m. (ET) Friday.
