MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Middle Tennessee scored the final three goals in a high-scoring affair to pull away from the Bellarmine University women's soccer team for a 6-2 win Sunday at Dean A. Hayes Track & Soccer Stadium.
Middle Tennessee (2-3) took first-half leads of 2-0 and 3-1 over Bellarmine (1-3), but the Knights answered each time. However, the Blue Raiders added one more goal before halftime to take a 4-2 lead and tacked on two more after the break by the 59th minute.
Junior forward
Lucy von Stefenelli scored in the 13th minute and sophomore forward
Rachel Skyberg in the 23rd minute on an assist from senior forward
Emma Nicholson for Bellarmine. It was von Stefenelli's second goal of the season, Skyberg's third and Nicholson's second helper.
Middle Tennessee held a 16-9 advantage in shots, including 11-5 on goal. There were pre-game and mid-game weather delays.
Bellarmine will host Indiana State at 7 p.m. (ET) Thursday.
