INDIANAPOLIS — The Bellarmine University men's soccer team made an early goal by redshirt junior midfielder
Alex Halevy stand up as the Knights defeated IU Indy 1-0 on Tuesday night at Michael A. Carroll Stadium.
It was the last nonconference match of the season for Bellarmine (7-3-2), which won for the sixth time in the last seven games. The Knights posted their fifth shutout, with redshirt senior goalkeeper
Peter Van Euwen collecting three saves against IU Indy (4-6-3).
Halevy provided all the scoring Bellarmine would require after finding the net in the 13th minute. It was his first goal of the season.
Bellarmine rested several starters and the contest proved to be a showcase for the strength of the Knights' depth. It was the 10th time in 12 games in which BU limited the opposition to one goal or less.
IU Indy finished with a 13-11 advantage in shots, but Bellarmine's defense limited the Jaguars to only three shots on goal. The Knights had four attempts on frame.
Bellarmine will host Central Arkansas in an ASUN contest at 7 p.m. (ET) Saturday.
