SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Playing its fourth game against a power conference opponent in its last five outings, Bellarmine Knights Women's Basketball was defeated 110-38 on the road by the 20th-ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Sunday night. With the result, the Knights end the non-conference portion of their schedule with an overall record of 2-11.
After falling behind 10-0 in the early going, Bellarmine went on an 8-4 run that included five points from
Rose Jamison to cut the deficit to six. The Knights were unable to get any closer however, as the Irish blew the game open with a 22-5 run to end the first quarter and controlled the game from that point forward.
Jamison led the Knights on offense with 17 points, 11 of which came in the first half. It was her second straight double-digit effort against a power conference opponent after she scored 20 points at Arizona on Thursday. She also led the Bellarmine on the boards with eight rebounds. Â
Kayce Hyman contributed with nine points, all of which came in the second half.Â
Haya Abdel Aal came off the bench to score five points on two made shots, both of which were made as she was fouled. She also grabbed seven rebounds.
Up next, the Knights will begin ASUN conference play with a home game on New Year's Day against Queens (NC) with tipoff time scheduled for 6:30 PM.
