LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Senior guard
Hope Sivori tied a program record for 3-pointers made, but the Bellarmine University women's basketball team was outlasted 91-83 by Jacksonville in Atlantic Sun Conference play Saturday afternoon in Knights Hall.
Sivori nailed eight 3-pointers while posting a game-high 25 points for Bellarmine (14-9, 5-5 ASUN). The eight triples matched that of Betsy Young (1999) and Stephanie Pieper (2003) for a single-game program record.
Seven of Sivori's triples and 22 of her points came in the first half against Jacksonville (11-11, 5-5). Her scorching performance over the first two quarters helped counterbalance the Dolphins' high-octane attack, as the Knights trailed just 50-46 at halftime despite considerable foul trouble.
Jacksonville's eight-point margin of victory comprised of winning every quarter by precisely two points. The Knights were within five with 7:12 left in the fourth, but the Dolphins pulled away with a 13-3 run.
Edyn Battle, the ASUN's leading scorer, paced Jacksonville with 23 points. The Dolphins shot 47.1 percent from the floor and outrebounded the Knights 56-37.
Senior forward
Skylar Treadwell registered her fifth double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds for Bellarmine. Junior guard
Erin Toller hit all eight of her free throws in scoring 19 points, and senior guard
Hayley Harrison chipped in 10 points and six rebounds.
Bellarmine will host FGCU at 6:30 p.m. (ET) Thursday.
