Women's basketball topped by Austin Peay in regular-season finale

Treadwell registers fourth straight double-double

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. — The ASUN Tournament-bound Bellarmine University women's basketball team concluded the regular season with a 72-63 loss Saturday to Austin Peay at F&M Bank Arena.

Senior forward Skylar Treadwell recorded her fourth straight double-double and 10th overall this season for Bellarmine (17-14, 8-10 ASUN) after collecting 14 points and a season-high 16 rebounds. Junior guard Erin Toller tallied 13 points and junior guard Miyah Brown chipped in 12.

Anovia Sheals led four players in double figures with 16 points for Austin Peay (12-17, 7-11), which shot 44.2 percent from the floor while holding Bellarmine to 33.3 percent. Sa'Mya Wyatt amassed 15 points and 13 rebounds.

Bellarmine was only 1-for-15 from 3-point range, which greatly contributed to its struggles. Even then, the Knights held a 45-39 lead to open the fourth quarter on a drive by Toller.

However, the next four minutes were turnover-plagued for Bellarmine, and Austin Peay capitalized with an 11-1 run in which the Governors surged ahead 54-49 with less than five minutes left.

Not much later, Austin Peay took control for good with an 8-0 run that was largely free throw based. The Governors' advantage swelled to 11 with 3:24 left, and they made the necessary free throws to hold off Bellarmine after the Knights rallied to within five with approximately one minute left.

The ASUN Tournament bracket is expected to be announced tonight.
