LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Playing its second power conference opponent in a midweek game this season, the Bellarmine University softball team fell 5-0 to Kentucky on Wednesday afternoon at Knights Field.
With the loss, the Knights move to 4-14 on the year.
Kentucky kicked the game off with two runs in the opening frame, thanks to an RBI single and RBI groundout, to go up 2-0.
The Wildcats continued to add on runs, scoring one in the third, one in the fifth and one in the sixth to extend their lead to 5-0.
Bellarmine finally tallied its first and only hit of the game in the home half of the sixth, a hard-hit single between third and the shortstop by
Jadyn Thompson. Thompson advanced to second later in the inning but couldn't work her way back home.
Up next, Bellarmine will return to ASUN action, hosting Eastern Kentucky for a three-game series March 22-23 at Knights Field.
