NASHVILLE, Tn. – Bellarmine softball wrapped up its first ASUN road series of the season with a 9-1 loss in five innings at Lipscomb on Saturday afternoon.
With the loss, the Knights move to 4-21 overall and 0-9 in Atlantic Sun play.
Bellarmine got on the board first, scoring a run in the game's opening frame thanks to a two out, bases loaded single off the bat of
Reni Shemwell.
From there, the Knights were able to hold Lipscomb at bay until the third inning when the Bisons scratched across their first run of the game to even the score 1-1. In the next inning, Lipscomb put up eight runs before sitting the Knights down in the top of the fifth to secure the 9-1 mercy rule win.
Shemwell finished the day 2-for-2 at the plate with an RBI.
Madison Davis tallied the only other hit for Bellarmine, a double in the fourth inning.
Up next, Bellarmine will return home for a midweek matchup against Tennessee Tech on Wednesday, April 2 at Knights Field.
