Men's tennis falls at FGCU on Friday night

FORT MYERS, Fl. – Bellarmine men's tennis fought hard once again but was unable to come away with a win at Florida Gulf Coast, falling 4-3 on Friday night at the FGCU Tennis Complex.

The Knights (7-10, 3-4 ASUN) came in ready to play. Despite falling in the first doubles match, Jack Batchelor and Brent Reynolds got Bellarmine moving in the right direction with a 6-3 win on doubles court three. Eli Wood and Louie Fletcher followed on court one with a 6-3 win to secure the doubles point for the Knights and take a 1-0 lead into singles.

FGCU once again claimed the first match, winning on court two before taking two more victories on courts five and four to charge ahead 3-1.

Batchelor once again righted the ship. Playing at No. 1 singles, the senior took down his opponent 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) to keep Bellarmine alive.

The Eagles had different plans however, securing the match with a win at No. 3 singles to clinch the four points needed for the win.

Fletcher ended things on a high note for the Knights, coming from behind to win at No. 6 singles 3-6, 7-6 (8-6), 7-5.

Up next, Bellarmine will conclude its regular season with one final ASUN match, traveling to DeLand, FL to face off against Stetson on Sunday, April 13.
