Men's tennis drops ASUN Championship opening round bout to FGCU

JACKSONVILLE, Fl. – The Bellarmine University men's tennis team made its first Atlantic Sun Conference Championship berth since 2023 today, falling 4-0 to Florida Gulf Coast in the first round at the UNF Tennis Complex.

Starting in doubles, FGCU got the first win on court two before Bellarmine answered on court three. Seniors Jack Batchelor and Brent Reynolds turned in a strong performance to win 6-3 and even doubles action at one match each. At No. 1 doubles, junior Eli Wood and sophomore Louie Fletcher battled, forcing extra-points, before falling 7-6 (7-3) as the Eagles clinched the team point.

In singles play, FGCU carried the momentum from its doubles win over and continued to pressure Bellarmine. The Eagles went on to secure wins on courts six, five and one to clinch the match 4-0. The singles matches on courts 2, 3 and 4 all went unfinished.
