LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Bellarmine wrestling continues its longest Southern Conference road trip of the season, traveling to Davidson and Appalachian State this weekend for a pair of conference duals.
The Knights will first head to Davidson, NC on Friday, January 30 to face off against Davidson College at 7 pm E.T. On Sunday, Bellarmine will wrap up the weekend in Boone, NC at Appalachian State University at 3 pm E.T.

Last week, Bellarmine (5-4, 2-0) improved to 2-0 in SoCon action after defeating VMI 35-10. At 2-0, Bellarmine sits in a four-way tie atop the league standings with The Citadel, App State and Chattanooga. The win is the third in a row for BU and put the Knights above .500 for the first time this season. Eight Knights earned a victory at VMI, led by graduate student Daulton Mayer and junior Jeb Prechtel who each recorded a pin in the match. Mayer and Prechtel are both now 2-0 in SoCon matches with two wins by fall. Prechtel's fall streak is extended to three in a row in dual matches as he moves into a tie for second most pins on the team with six. Mayer leads the Knights and is tied for sixth in the NCAA with seven pins this year.

Davidson is off to a 3-10 start to the year and is 1-1 in SoCon duals. In their last dual, the Wildcats fell to Chattanooga 43-3. Davidson has lost five straight duals with its last win coming on December 18 over Presbyterian (21-9). The Wildcats will take on Gardner-Webb on the road on Thursday night before hosting Bellarmine on Friday. Bellarmine owns a 3-2 record against Davidson, winning each of the last three meetings. Last season, the Knights prevailed 42-3. The last time the two schools met in Davidson was February 2, 2024 with BU leaving with a 27-9 win.

Appalachian State is 5-5 to start the year and is 2-0 in SoCon action, sharing a piece of the league lead with Bellarmine. In their last dual, the Mountaineers fell 39-0 to No.7 Virginia Tech. Before the loss, App State won back-to-back conference matches, beating Presbyterian 46-4 and VMI 40-3. App State has two wrestlers in its projected lineup with national rankings in Kaden Keiser (149) and Tomas Brooker (184). Keiser sits at No. 23/33 by FloWrestling and Intermat while Brooker is ranked No. 24/33 in the same polls. In five meetings between Bellarmine and Appalachian State, the Knights have never won.
