LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Bellarmine University lacrosse has appointed its team captains for the 2027 season, head coach
Andrew Whitley announced Friday.
Donning the "C" for the Knights will be seniors
Jackson Campisano,
Luke Healy and
Matt Kirton along with junior
Joe Alie. Healy and Kirton were also captains last season.
"I am extremely excited about the leadership that this group will provide to our team," Whitley said. "They are all extremely accomplished players on the field and are excellent representatives of the program off it. They embody what we want our players and our program to be."
A defenseman, Campisano has appeared in 47 games in his career. The Louisville native has amassed 87 ground balls and 31 caused turnovers in his tenure. He was an ASUN All-Freshman Team recipient in 2024 and has been an ASUN Honor Roll fixture.
Healy is a midfielder who's logged action in 34 career games. The native of Keller, Texas, has tallied nine goals, including six last season, and 12 assists in his time as a Knight. He's an ASUN Honor Roll recipient.
Appearing in 47 games in his career, Kirton, a defenseman, has compiled 86 ground balls and 33 caused turnovers. The native of Centennial, Colorado, was named to the Academic All-ASUN Team last season and is an ASUN Honor Roll mainstay.
An attackman, Alie enters his third year at Bellarmine ranked sixth on the career goals list with 74 after a 45-goal campaign last season and is just shy of the top 12 in points with 87. The product of Aurora, Colorado, was an ASUN All-Freshman Team selection in 2025 and an Academic All-ASUN Team honoree last season while annually appearing on the ASUN Honor Roll.
"This is an extremely motivated team and this group of captains is doing an excellent job of harnessing and directing that motivation in a productive direction," Whitley said. "I am extremely excited about where we are headed with this group at the helm!"
