LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A stirring fourth-quarter comeback by the Bellarmine University lacrosse team was thwarted by Marquette as the Golden Eagles secured a 15-10 win over the Knights on Saturday afternoon at Owsley B. Frazier Stadium.
In Bellarmine's final nonconference contest, the Knights (4-7) were trailing 11-5 in the fourth quarter when senior attack

The last of that sequence, a highlight-reel, behind-the-back shot, cut the deficit to two with 8:01 left. The teams exchanged goals after

Marquette (4-4) managed to hold off Bellarmine by scoring two goals within a five-second span, the latter coming directly after a face-off. Carsen Brandt (three goals) and Nolan Rappis (four goals), who both had big games for the Golden Eagles, netted those goals. Andrew Bowman added three goals as MU matched the Knights with three individuals with hat tricks.
Bellarmine scored the match's first three goals and led 3-1 after the first quarter. However, Marquette would account for 10 of the next 12 goals to build a seemingly comfortable lead in the last period before the Knights surged back and put the outcome in doubt.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Nolan Hudnut accumulated 18 saves for Bellarmine. That tally was one shy of matching a season high.
Bellarmine will open ASUN play with a 2 p.m. (ET) contest Saturday, March 28, at Utah.
