COOKEVILLE, Tn. – The Bellarmine University softball team played its final midweek contest of the season on Tuesday, falling 8-0 to Tennessee Tech in five innings at Tech Softball Field.
Bellarmine (10-31, 3-12 ASUN) struggled in the circle, dropping its 12
th straight game.
Tennessee Tech (15-24, 7-4 OVC) started the scoring early and never stopped. The Golden Eagles, tallied a run in each of the first two innings thanks to a pair of RBI singles before piling on six runs in the bottom of the fourth, highlighted by a three-run home run off the bat of Makayli Harris to vault ahead 8-0.
The Knights had runners in scoring position in nearly every inning, getting at least a runner to third base in each of the second, third, fourth and fifth innings, but were never able to take advantage at the plate.

Brooke Shewmaker led the way for Bellarmine going 2-for-2 while sophomore
Lauren Guthrie tallied a triple and freshman
Tia Ice recorded a double in the game.
Up next, Bellarmine will return to Atlantic Sun Conference play for the remainder of the season with the next stop in Nashville, TN for a three-game series at Lipscomb April 18-19.
