FORT MEYERS, Fl. – Bellarmine women's tennis kicked off postseason play on Tuesday morning with program history, notching its first ASUN Conference Championship win with a 4-0 sweep of Queens at the FGCU Tennis Complex.
The Knights, making just their third ASUN Championship appearance since joining the league in 2020 and first since 2023, took to the court for the first match of the postseason and took care of business.
In doubles, juniors
Marika Caruk and
Nikola Kollaritsch tallied a 6-1 win over Jett Coetzee and Daniela Tomala in the opening flight, followed shortly by fellow junior
Lillie Willis and freshman Gracie
Hurley in flight two, who topped Mathilde Bris and Rachel Bryne 6-1 as well to secure the team point and a 1-0 lead.
Moving into singles, Willis kept the momentum going with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Tomala on court six to collect her second win of the match.
Hurley notched her second win of the day on court five, defeating Bryne 6-3, 6-2 before Kollaritsch collected her second win on court three, taking down Coetzee 6-1, 6-0 to clinch the match 4-0.
The win is Bellarmine's first postseason win of the Division I era and the program's first since a 4-2 victory over Missouri-St. Louis in the semi-finals of the 2019 GLVC Tournament.
Up next, Bellarmine will move on the second round, taking on the No. 1 seeded, and undefeated, North Florida Ospreys on Thursday, April 16 at 9 am E.T. at the FGCU Tennis Complex.
