LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Bellarmine University softball team closed out its 2026 home schedule on Sunday, falling 6-1 to Eastern Kentucky at Knights Field.
Eastern Kentucky (26-21-1, 13-6-1 ASUN) opened the game as the first team to score for the third time on the weekend. The Colonels notched a single run in the first before adding on with another run in the second to go up 2-0 early.
The Knights (12-35, 5-16 ASUN) answered in the second. With two outs and a runner on second in the home half of the inning, junior
Kendall Gaddie stepped to the plate and delivered a line drive knock into left center field, scoring the run from second to put Bellarmine on the board, down 2-1.
From there, it was all EKU as the Colonels added on with two runs in each of the sixth and seventh innings to cruise to a 6-1 win.
Senior
Jacklyn Zuege recorded a base hit in her final game at Knights Field while fellow senior
Addison Kerr drew a walk as a pinch hitter in the seventh. Defensively, senior
Elli Jensen came on to record a much needed out in the sixth while senior
Madison Davis made multiple all-out-effort plays in left.
Up next, Bellarmine will close out the 2026 season with a final three-game road series at North Alabama Friday, May 1 to Saturday, May 2.
