MIDWAY, Ky. — Bellarmine football fell to Midway 55-14 Saturday afternoon at Midway Turf Field.
The Knights scored on their second offensive possession, as Kyle Horvath connected with Robert Oates for a 17-yard touchdown to cut the Midway lead to 14-7 in the first quarter.
Bellarmine added another touchdown in the third quarter when Jaime Jones found Rylan Morris for a 39-yard score. Jones finished 9-of-19 passing for 118 yards and a touchdown, while Horvath completed 7-of-16 passes for 79 yards and a touchdown.
Oates led the Knights with six receptions for 68 yards and a touchdown, while Morris added four catches for 72 yards and a score.
Defensively, Riley McGrath paced the Knights with seven tackles, while Russell Cox recorded five tackles and an interception.
Bellarmine returns home Saturday, Sept. 26, for its home opener against Calumet. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. at Holy Cross High School.
