JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Bellarmine University volleyball team wrangled three of the four ASUN weekly awards as
Maddie Carnes was a double honoree and
Payton Parsons was also recognized, the league announced Monday.
Carnes was named ASUN Setter of the Week and ASUN Freshman of the Week, while Parsons was acknowledged as the ASUN Defensive Player of the Week.
The landslide of awards came on the heels of Bellarmine's 3-0 victory over Lipscomb in Saturday's conference opener in Knights Hall. It was the program's first-ever win over the Bisons in the D1 era.
Carnes amassed a match-high 31 assists, tied a match high with three service aces and added three digs. Parsons racked up a match-high 15 digs and supplied five assists.
Carnes' ASUN Freshman of the Week accolade was her second of the season. The setting honor was her first, as was the defensive laurel for Parsons.
