Winston Yergler joined Bellarmine’s men’s basketball staff as an assistant coach in the summer of 2025.
Prior to coming to the Highlands, he spent the 2024-25 season at Division II Indianapolis. There he helped guide junior guard Dashawn Jackson to Second Team All-GLVC status and center Tucker Tornatta to the GLVC All-Freshman Team while the Hounds went 15-13 overall.
Prior to UIndy, he spent the 2023-24 season as an assistant at Marian University, also in Indianapolis, where he helped lead the Knights to a No. 7 Massey ranking and No. 22 national ranking. Yergler helped secure an at-large bid to the NAIA National Tournament as 10-seed. He was also instrumental in signing the NAIA’s top recruiting class according to Prep Hoops, landing two Indiana All-Stars and four of the state’s top-20 recruits. Additionally, he worked with Brody Whitaker as he reached 1,000 career points as a Marian Knight.
Yergler mentored three all-conference guards, one all-defensive guard and one all-freshman forward last winter at Marian, while the team improved their offensive efficiency to sixth in NAIA and top-15 scoring defense. Yergler helped oversee five NAIA Scholar Athletes and a team GPA of 3.4.
He previously spent two seasons at IUPUI (now IU Indy) from 2021-2023. After spending the 2021-22 season as the assistant director of operations, Yergler was promoted to the director of basketball operations in August 2022.
Prior to IUPUI, Yergler spent two seasons at Ball State where he was the graduate assistant and special assistant to the head coach. During his time at Ball State, Yergler worked closely with All MAC performers Tayler Persons and Trey Moses and has worked with nine different players who have amassed 1,000 points in their collegiate careers. Yergler's responsibilities at Ball State included being the head scouting coordinator, focusing primarily on defensive preparation over the course of the season, while also overseeing 12 undergraduate managers and six managers who worked specifically towards game promotions. Additionally, Yergler coordinated the coaching staff's travel schedules as they watched more than 600 high school and summer games across the country.
Yergler played collegiately for two seasons at Iowa Central Community College before completing his degree at Purdue, where he was a men's basketball manager. He earned his bachelor’s degree in selling and sales management before earning his master's in sports administration from Ball State.
Winston and his wife, Olivia, reside in Fishers, Ind., with their daughter, Monroe.
