Steve Hartman joined the Bellarmine University staff in the 2012-13 season as head coach for sports performance.
Hartman, a former placekicker for the University of Louisville who was a redshirt on the 2007 Orange Bowl championship team, has worked at both the college and professional level in strength conditioning and sports performance. He began his career as an intern with the U of L football program, and from there, began work with Major League Soccer’s Columbus Crew, where he helped with speed development and strength training. Most recently before arriving at Bellarmine, he worked with the strength and conditioning program at Boston College.
Hartman is a member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association, the Young Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association, the Certified Functional Strength Coach Association, and the United States Weightlifting Club Level 1. He has a background in competitive powerlifting and was the 2012 AAU Powerlifting champion in the open division (181-pound weight class) of the bench press.
Hartman, a native of Crestwood, Kentucky, and a graduate of South Oldham High School, is a 2009 graduate of U of L, where he received a degree in exercise science, with a minor in sport administration.Â
