Luke Gamble, a former All-Ivy League performer at Princeton University and professional player, joined the Bellarmine University men’s tennis coaching staff as an assistant during the 2019-20 season.
Gamble earned second-team All-Ivy League accolades in doubles play in his last three seasons at Princeton. He piled up 157 total victories over his four-year career, with 85 coming in doubles action and 72 coming in singles play, and ascended to as high as No. 13 in the ITF doubles rankings.
Gamble amassed at least 20 doubles wins in all four years at Princeton, including a 25-14 mark in 2015-16, and posted 19 or more singles victories in three of his four seasons with the Tigers. The native of Boise, Idaho, earned Academic All-Ivy League honors as an English major and was the team captain in 2017-18.
After his final season at Princeton, Gamble was awarded the “Lapidus Trophy” for the program’s most outstanding player. He was awarded the “Swinnerton Trophy” for leadership, sportsmanship and influence as a freshman.
As a professional, Gamble won three ITF doubles titles and rose to No. 164 in the doubles rankings. Before his time at Princeton, he competed in the junior division at the Australian Open and the U.S. Open and was a five-star recruit on TennisRecruiting.net while achieving a No. 72 ranking among the 2014 senior class. Gamble was a three-time national junior champion in Costa Rica.
