Former NFL player Renardo Foster joined the Bellarmine University sprint football team's staff as the offensive line coach prior to the program's inaugural season in 2022.
Before his retirement in 2012, Foster, an offensive tackle, played five seasons in the NFL with the Atlanta Falcons, St. Louis Rams (two stints) and New Orleans Saints. He graduated from the University of Louisville, where he played football under coaches John L. Smith and Bobby Petrino from 2002-2007 while earning first-team All-Big East accolades.
In the program's first year, Foster helped lead Bellarmine to a winning season. The Knights in 2022 went 4-3 overall and 3-2 in the Midwest Sprint Football League, good for third place in the conference. In the first game in program history, Bellarmine captured a 17-15 road victory at Midway on a game-winning 33-yard field goal with 44 seconds left. The Knights earned 12 MSFL All-Conference laurels, including two from Foster's offensive line in guard Anikin Harris and tackle Cameron Broussard.
A 2002 graduate of Ripley (Tenn.) High School, Foster is in his eighth season of coaching. He and his wife, Shalonda, have one daughter, Jamie.
