LOUISVILLE, Ky.--Bellarmine University's Nick Holmes  came off the bench to lead five Knights in double digits with 16 to help carry Bellarmine past the visiting Kentucky State Thorobreds 84-67 in an exhibition basketball game in Knights Hall.

In his post game radio show, Coach Scott Davenport said he was happy with the Knights effort tonight. "What I am most pleased with," he said, "was holding them to 42 percent shooting."

Bellarmine and Kentucky State opened the game fairly evenly, before the Knights stretched to an eight point halftime lead.  In the second period, Bellarmine opened up a double digit lead early and held a comfortable advantage throughout the half before settling for the 17-point victory.

The Knights got a big effort tonight from its big man, as senior center Oladapo Fagbenle  posted a double double with 11 points and 14 rebounds. Joining Fagbenle and Holmes with double digits in the scoring column were Justin Benedetti with 15, Braydon Hobbs with 12, and Andrew Patterson  with 10.

Kentucky State was led by Tony Johnson, who posted a game high 19, and Jarrod Gay who pitched in 17 points on the night.

Bellarmine continues its season with one last exhibition game on Nov. 12 when they travel to Cincinnati for a 7 p.m. clash with the Bearcats.
