OAKLAND CITY, Ind. --- Using a balanced attack that saw five players reach double figures, the Bellarmine University women's basketball team cruised to an 83-58 victory over the Oakland City Lady Oaks on Sunday afternoon in a nonconference matchup.
The win ends a three game skid for Bellarmine (5-3, 0-2 GLVC), winning in convincing fashion where they never trailed and the final score matched their largest lead.
Bellarmine jumped on the host Lady Oaks early on, scoring the game's first seven points before OCU battled back and tied the game at 11 with 14:43 to in the half. The Knights would quickly take control from there though, going on an 18-6 run in the next six minutes to put the game away for good.
The Knights shot 48.3% from the field on their way to a 46-32 halftime lead.
For the game, sophomore guard
Kylee Hamilton led the Knights with a season high 17 points. Other players reaching double figures were
Morgan Clemons, who scored 15 points on a perfect 6-6 from the field and 3-3 from the line,
Darion Hutchinson with 12 points and
Therese Montano and
Allison Matheis both chipped in 10 points.
A team effort overall, the Knights committed a season low 10 turnovers and received 42 points off the bench, compared to just 2 points from the home bench.
Bellarmine will stay on the road for another week as they travel to New York for two games beginning with Concordia College on Thursday, tip-off is set for 5:00 p.m.
