LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Zack Sims has joined the Bellarmine University women's basketball coaching staff as a graduate assistant, head coach Monique Reid announced Tuesday.

A Louisville native, Sims arrives at Bellarmine after spending four seasons as a student manager with University of Louisville basketball, the first three (2022-25) with the men's team and the last (2025-26) with the women's program under Jeff Walz, who Reid played under during her Hall of Fame career with the Cardinals (2008-13).

"Zack brings valuable experience from his time as a manager for both the men's and women's basketball teams at the University of Louisville," Reid said. "He is organized, professional and approaches every task with a strong work ethic. Zack is eager to learn and willing to do whatever it takes to help the program succeed. We're excited to welcome him to our staff and look forward to the contributions he will make."

In Sims' final season as a manager with the Louisville men's team, the Cardinals delivered a historic turnaround in the first year under Pat Kelsey, going from 8-24 overall and 3-17 in the ACC the previous season to 27-8 overall and 18-2 in conference action, where they tied for second in the league and followed by making their first-ever appearance in an ACC Tournament semifinal or championship game while finishing as the runner-up to No. 1 Duke. The Cards earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Sims experienced further success as a manager with Louisville's women's team in 2025-26. The Cardinals went 29-8 overall (tied for the fifth most in program history), placed second in the ACC with a 15-3 mark in the regular season and finished as the runner-up in the ACC Tournament to No. 1 Duke. The Cards followed in the NCAA Tournament with a run to the Sweet 16.

Sims earned a bachelor's degree in sports administration from Louisville and was a four-time member of the Dean's Scholar List. He attended Floyd Central (Ind.) High School and, as a player, was a member of three Hoosier Hills Conference championship teams and two IHSAA sectional championship squads.

"I'm grateful for the opportunity and appreciate Coach Mo's trust in bringing me onto this staff," Sims said. "Joining this staff is an exciting step in my coaching journey. I'm looking forward to learning from an outstanding group of coaches, building strong relationships with our players, staff, alumni and community, and pouring my heart into our student-athletes every day.

"I'm committed to doing whatever it takes to help contribute to a winning culture built on growth, accountability and hard work, both on and off the court. I'm excited to get to work and invest fully in the success of our program."
