Box Score SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico --- The Bellarmine University women's basketball team opened up a three game stand on the island of Puerto Rico Friday afternoon by pulling out a 69-61 victory over the University of Puerto Rico-Bayamon.
Official stats were not available, but sophomore
Darion Hutchinson was credited with career-high 19 points, with 15 coming in the second half.
With final exams wrapping up this week followed by the long travel, Coach
Chancellor Dugan anticipated her team coming out a bit flat. “I didn't expect us to be very sharp at the outset,” said Dugan. “But I'm glad we stayed together and came up with some stops down the stretch to pick up a win.”
The team will have a day off before returning to the court on Sunday, and Dugan hopes the Knights come back with a strong effort. “We still have two more games down here and I'm excited to see how far we've come in the mental toughness area.”
