Maryville runs past Knights 84-63

Box Score ST. LOUIS, Mo. --- The Bellarmine Knights dropped the second game of a two game road trip in St. Louis on Sunday afternoon, falling 84-63 at Maryville in Great Lakes Valley Conference action.

Played at a frantic pace, Bellarmine (11-4, 1-3) ran out of gas in trying to knock of the defending GLVC Champions, who returned 11 players from last year's squad. With just over eight minutes left, senior Rachel Greenwell banked in three of her 12 points on the afternoon from the right wing to bring the Knights within three, but Maryville (7-6, 3-2 GLVC) outscored the Knights 22-4 the rest of the way to take the victory.

With both teams pushing the pace with full court pressure, the two teams combined to take 131 field goal attempts, Maryville hit 35 of 75 shots (46.7%) with Bellarmine connecting on 23 of 56 (41.1%). Bellarmine was without one key cog on Saturday as Therese Montano missed the game with an illness.

Betsy Goodin, starting in place of Montano, led the way for the Knights with 20 points and 7 rebounds while Kylie Brady added 15 points and 5 assists. Kelsey Lamb had another strong game off the bench, after posting 11 points and 8 rebounds on Thursday, Lamb had 4 points and a team best 10 boards.

Abby Duethman, who leads the Saints in scoring and rebounding, scored 20 of her own to lead the Saints, as the 5-10 senior became Maryville's all-time leading scorer.

Bellarmine will look to change their fortunes by returning to the friendly confines of Knights Hall on Thursday when they host Wisconsin-Parkside for a 5:45 p.m. tip.
