Box Score Florence, Ala. — The Bellarmine University women's basketball team dropped a contest to the Lions of North Alabama 82-62 on Sunday afternoon despite a double-double by sophomore forward Sarah Galvin. Galvin's 29 points and 10 rebounds were both career highs.

Bellarmine (0-2, 0-0 GLVC) jumped out to an early lead, 8-2, on four Knights layups in the paint. The Knights capitalized on a 1-for-7 shooting start for the Lions (2-0, 0-0 GSC) in the first three minutes of play and forced the home side on their heels early.

However, a quick bucket, steal, and ensuing three-pointer by North Alabama began a 20-0 run over the next seven minutes during which Bellarmine turned the ball over nine times.

The Knights were able to contain UNA through the remainder of the first half as Bellarmine went to the break down a manageable 14, 41-27.

A 26-9 North Alabama run to begin the second period punished the Knights' turnovers and missed opportunities. However, Galvin made the most of her opportunities and minutes, scoring 18 of Bellarmine's 35 second-half points. She shot 7-of-12 for the half and pulled in seven of her team-high 10 rebounds as the Knights looked to muster a comeback in the waning minutes.

With the help of Galvin's late-game baskets, scoring 14 of BU's final 22 points, Bellarmine was able to cut into a 30-point UNA lead, 73-43, with 7:03 remaining. The Bellarmine squad went on a 19-9 run to end the game, but was unable to bring the Lion's lead to within 20 as the game ended with an 82-62 final score.

Galvin's 29 points is the highest point total in a game since former player Kylie Brady had 36 on Feb. 18, 2012, and the second highest since December, 2008. Galvin went 9-for-16 from the field, 11-for-16 from the free throw line, grabbed 10 boards, and registered four steals, two assists and a block. Sophomore guard Mariah Gador had six points and 11 rebounds and junior forward Morgan Clemons scored seven points to go along with four boards for the Knights.

Bellarmine surrendered 31 turnovers in the match which North Alabama turned into 37 points. The Knights were able to capitalize on their 18 offensive rebounds as they scored 17 second chance points, and put in 43 points in the paint.

The Knights will open their home slate on Saturday, Nov. 23 at 3:15 as they host Ferris State University.
