Women's basketball loses exhibition to Ohio State, 101-48

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- In their only exhibition of the season, the Bellarmine University women's basketball team lost on the road to The Ohio State Buckeyes 101-48. Freshman guard Jessica Hardin led the way for the Knights with a team-high 11 points as well as seven rebounds.

The Knights kept Ohio State within reach early and were down by just nine, 36-27, after a pair of free throws by Hardin with just 3:07 left in the first half.

Ohio State pulled away at the end of the first half and the Knights found themselves playing catch-up for the remainder of the preseason contest. The game ended with the home side up 101-48.

For the game, 10 different players scored for second-year head coach Chancellor Dugan. Hardin scored 11 points and recorded seven boards in her first collegiate game; freshman guard Destony Curry added eight points, and sophomore guard Mariah Gador scored six points. Junior forward Darion Hutchinson gathered a game-high eight rebounds for the Knights.

Bellarmine found significant production off their bench with 25 of their 48 points coming from substitutes. The Knights had 12 points in the paint and knocked down six three-pointers.

The Knights will open up their regular season on the road at Cedarville University on Nov. 13 at 7 p.m. Bellarmine is 0-2 all-time against the Yellow Jackets, having lost their last match against Cedarville 56-67 a season ago.
