Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 LOUISVILLE, Ky. --- The Bellarmine University softball team dropped the final two games of their opening weekend homestand on Sunday afternoon, losing a 13-6 slugfest to Ashland University before falling 4-1 to Lincoln Memorial in the finale.

Bellarmine (4-6) will look to regroup next week by playing four games on the road at the MidSouth Classic in Duncan, S.C.

Game 1: Ashland 13, Bellarmine 6 BOX SCORE
Ashland jumped on the Knights early by scoring five runs in the opening frame as Bellarmine hurt their own cause by making a pair of costly errors. Freshman Lindsey Wiles started in the circle but lasted just four batters before giving way to sophomore Alicia Miller.

Miller didn't fare much better, getting tagged for two runs including one that came on an illegal pitch call.

The Knights answered by putting three runs on the board in the bottom half of the inning, getting one RBI from Megan Murdoch and a pair from 3B Madi Ratliff on a single up the middle.

But the Eagles were dialed in from the plate, scoring three runs in the top half of the second and adding another in the third to take a 8-3 lead after three innings played.

Ashland tallied three more runs in the top of the fifth, before Bellarmine pulled within 12-5 in the bottom half. Kayla Padgett found room in right centerfield, bringing home freshman Ally Foster all the way from first. Padgett, a Meade County product, scored later in the inning on an error by the Ashland shortstop.

Kelsey Hicks blasted her first homerun of the season in the sixth to bring the score to a final 13-6.

Foster led the offensive output for Bellarmine, going 3-for-4 from the plate with two runs scored and a stolen base.

Game 2: Lincoln Memorial 4, Bellarmine 1 BOX SCORE
After the visiting Railsplitters went up 1-0 after a half inning of play, it took just one pitch for Bellarmine to find the equalizer. Batting leadoff, Foster sent the first pitch she saw over the right field fence for her third homer of the year, and second in as many days.

But that would be all the runs that the Knights were able to produce. Lincoln Memorial scored the game winner in the sixth and added two insurance runs in the seventh to take the decision.

After LMU went ahead 2-1 it appeared that Bellarmine may have the quick answer again, but Murdoch's two-out bomb didn't quite sail far enough with Railsplitter centerfielder Brianna Mulky catching it backed up to the fence.

Freshman Amy Feie had a solid outing from the rubber, going the full 7.0 innings and striking out three. Fellow rookie Tabby Shewmaker also had a strong performance, displaying good glove skills at third base.
