Knights can't run with Greyhounds

Goodin, Brady reach double-figures in losing effort

LOUISVILLE, Ky. --- The Bellarmine Knights couldn't keep pace with the Indianapolis Greyhounds on Thursday night, falling 81-67 in a Great Lakes Valley Conference contest in Knights Hall.

The loss is Bellarmine's third straight, dropping their record to 16-7 overall and an even 6-6 in the conference. Meanwhile, UIndy improves to 14-6, 7-5 in the GLVC, and moves one game ahead of the Knights for fifth place in the conference standings.

UIndy's offense was clicking on all cylinders throughout, shooting 33 for 56 (58.9%) from the field Thursday night, the highest for an opponent this season. The Greyhounds led by as much as 18 late in second half, where connected on 17 of 26 shots (65.4%).

Meanwhile, Bellarmine struggled to hit shots of their own, shooting 28 of 76 (36.8%) from the field and just 3 of 17 (17.6%) from behind the arc.

Betsy Goodin, just missed a double-double with 17 points and 9 rebounds, adding in 4 assists and 3 steals to lead the Knights.  Goodin, the team's energetic sixth man, earned the start tonight along with junior Kylee Hamilton. Hamilton scored 6 points and matched her career-high with 6 assists.

Senior Kylie Brady was the only other player to reach double-figures for BU, scoring 15 points. The senior from Elizabethtown, Ky. also registered two steals in the game, moving her into a tie for eighth place on the all-time list with Katie Clemmer.

UIndy's explosive backcourt of Kristin Turner and Katy McIntosh poured in a combined 41 points with Turner going for a game-high 24. The Greyhounds also managed to outrebound the Knights, a feat that has only happened five times this year 40-34.

Bellarmine will hit the hardwood again on Saturday afternoon, welcoming in St. Joseph's into Knights Hall for a 1:00 p.m. tip.
