BU men's soccer edged 1-0 by Indianapolis

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Bellarmine University men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to Indianapolis on Sunday at Owsley B. Frazier Stadium in Great Lakes Valley Conference play.

Bellarmine (7-4, 5-3 GLVC) struggled to generate much offense against Indianapolis (5-3-2, 4-2-2), which led the shot count 11-8. Both teams allowed only two shots on goal apiece.

Indianapolis scored on one of its attempts on frame. A UIndy cross from the left side toward the center of the goal box deflected off a Bellarmine defender to a waiting Jacob Meyer, who had a chip shot for a 1-0 lead in the 33rd minute.

While Indianapolis held a 9-3 advantage in shots in the first half, the Knights had five to the two of the Greyhounds after the intermission. Junior midfielder Beau Laufer and freshman midfielder Magnus Bertilsson each had one shot on frame.

Bellarmine's defense once again kept its opponent in check. The Knights haven't allowed more than one goal in a match since their season opener.

Bellarmine will play at Wisconsin-Parkside on Friday and at Lewis on Sunday.
