ELKINS, WV — In its first match of the 2016 season, the Bellarmine University men's soccer team did something that the Knights didn't do all of 2015: play to a draw.
On Thursday night, visiting Bellarmine tied Davis & Elkins 1-1 as sophomore midfielder
Magnus Bertilsson scored the tying goal in the second half before the teams played two scoreless overtimes.
The Senators (0-0-1) got on the board first against the Knights (0-0-1) when Kasper Kvello scored in the 43rd minute off an assist from Ayo Adeyina.
Bellarmine knotted it at 1-1 after the intermission in the 64th minute when junior midfielder
Nathan Jones found Bertilsson for the equalizer.
Six of Bellarmine's nine shots were on goal, while three of Davis & Elkins' 10 attempts were on frame.
Bellarmine plays Cedarville at 1:30 p.m. (ET) Saturday at Davis & Elkins.
