INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis scored in the opening minutes and held on to defeat the visiting Bellarmine University men's soccer team 1-0 on Friday in Great Lakes Valley Conference play.
Bellarmine dropped to 3-6-1 overall and 2-5 in the GLVC. Indianapolis improved to 5-2-2 and 3-2-2.
Only 2:45 into the match, Jake Meyer got Indianapolis on the board with a goal off an assist from Mase Koki. The quick strike was not a sign of things to come, as there was no scoring the rest of the match.
Both teams attempted nine shots, with Bellarmine having five on goal to four for the Greyhounds. Sophomore goalkeeper
Zach Pogue had three saves for the Knights.
Bellarmine was shut out for the third time this season.
Bellarmine plays at 3:30 p.m. (ET) Sunday at Saint Joseph's.
